Shameless Name Dropping

Yes, I have been working on my story. Really. The first half will be totally complete as soon as I edit two scenes in the prologue and add one scene to chapter two. At that time about seventy pages will be going to my pre-readers. You know who you are. And before anyone asks, yes I am looking for pre-readers, but no, not anyone can volunteer. Sorry. If you want to email me anyway and ask, it can't hurt any, but I won't be accepting offers from anyone who isn't themselves a writer with the courage to post this stuff and also one whose style I enjoy so if you don't even post fanfiction save us both some embarassment and don't ask, okay? Am I going to be a snobby elitist bitch about it? Yes, I am. (Yes, Belle, I got your letter. The computer I'm using is locked into someone else's login and I can't answer it right now. Sorry I've so long in getting back to you.)

My goal is to start posting again as soon as the olympics are over. While I am an international sports event exile, I can't get to my computer at work which means that it's very difficult for me to edit any of my webpages. When things get back to normal around here is when I'll start re-releasing 'wasteland' on a set schedule until it's complete. I have been distracted by other things quite a bit since November, but this story is some of the best prose that I've ever written, and it deserves my undivided attention for a while. There's nothing else I can do for 'utukki' right now, so don't ask. The writing is the easy part. Since I'm not helping with the art but feel guilty about that, I won't even bug Krista for you. She deserves my support.

And now that my image as a moody creative type is forever recorded here, I'll go clean my kitchen. ^-^

Mindy is taking me to a matinee of Count of Monte Cristo. I read the book about ten years ago and absolutely loved it. I've heard good things about the movie. We'll see what happens. It'd be hard to really screw up that story.

Since I live in Salt Lake, the next three weeks are going to be pretty insane. The college is open only until 1 in the afternoon. I'm not required to come in if I don't care about little details like getting paid. There's one day when I don't have a choice about going in, but that won't be so bad, I think. One of my co-workers has offered to pick me up which will help a great deal. I'm looking forward to some of the events, but will probably just watch coverage on television. It's safer that way. People are already pouring into town. The anti-terrorist security is necessary, but it's starting to become a nuisance to people getting to and from work, school, and even just getting home at night. I just feel sorry for the people who live up in Park City by the ski venues. Not pretty.
